Essential Oils for the Outdoors

Back to www.doterraoil.com

The use of natural plant oils for medical and first aid purpose is nothing new. Records of Essential Oils being used for medicinal purposes date back to the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Arabian empires. With modern main stream medicines and the convenience of buying over the counter products we tend to forget about the hazards and side effects of using many of these products.  Using Essential Oils while in the outdoors and everyday in your home is a safe alternative to the many medications that we all have come accustomed to using.

Essential Oils can be used in many outdoor applications such as burns, sunburns, rashes, bug bites, spider bites, snake bites, cuts and scraps, poison ivy / oak. It can also be used as a disinfectant, and a bug repellent.  Essential Oils can be used on people of all ages, without the worries and other side effects caused by other chemical based products. Essential oils can also be used on your pets.

Why use Essential Oils in the Outdoors?

Each bottle of Essential Oil has many uses.  Most of us that adventure in the outdoors cannot prepare for everything that might happen.  One bottle of Lavender for example can relief a sunburn, rashes, help relief a sprained ankle, can be placed directly on burns, and help you get a good night sleep.

Backpacking With Essential Oils:

Essential Oils should be part of every backpackers assortment of gear.  The 15ml bottles are light weight and they once again have many uses.  Just one 15ml bottle of TerraShield replaces a large heavy canister of bug repellent.  TerraShield contains no DEET and it is safe on all ages including your pets.  A few drops of lemon oil can be used to freshen the water in your water bladder and at the same time provide you with a boost of energy. One drop of Peppermint Oil in your water can relieve an upset stomach and help you cool off on a hot day.

Essential Oils for Survival:

Every first aid / survival kit should contain essential oils.  When your in a survival situation or emergency where you cannot run to your local market to buy medicines, essential oils are a must.  Melaleuca for example is an analgesic, antibacterial, antibiotic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antiviral and a disinfectant.  It is excellent to fight off infections of all kinds.  Melaleuca has been used for centuries by the Aborigines to heal cuts, wounds and skin infections.
