The
Fish Lake National Forest occupies 1.4 million acres of plateau and
mountain land and offers great opportunities for fishing, hiking, hunting,
camping, mountain biking,
snowmobiling, ATV trails, viewing wildlife and
more.
Fish
Lake National forest has two National Recreation Trails: Fish Lake
shoreline trail and the Skyline Trails in the Tusher Mountains. The Paiute
ATV trail is a 260-mile loop with an additional 500 miles of marked side
trails to communities with services. Horseback riding and hiking are also
popular on these trails. During the winter months you can enjoy ice
fishing, cross country skiing and 100 miles of groomed snowmobile trails.
Nineteen
National Forest campgrounds offer opportunities for family and group
camping. The 2,500 acre Fish Lake (well known for its mackinaw fishing),
and the nearby 670 acre Johnson Valley Reservoir are the most visited
places in the Forest. The fall brings thousands of hunters to the Forest
for deer and elk hunting.
Fish
Lake National Forest in located in central Utah, near the town of
Richfield, Fillmore, Beaver, and Loa. I-70 runs through through the middle
of the Forest and I-15 runs along the west side.
