Indian Springs (Stinking Hot Springs)

Submitted By D Tolman

This is a natural hot spring (118 deg) on the south end of Little Mountain, right along hwy 83.  While the spring is actually on the north side of the road, it has been piped under the road for use in 3 cement tubs.  Water temperature is controlled by governing the flow into each tub.  The land is privately owned, but signs posted by the owner note “use at your own risk”.  A wooden shelter has been built around the tubes, with a doorway facing away from the road.  The structure is partially open to the sky, and has been vandalized with peep holes in the walls.  The spring carries a strong sulpher smell, hence the nickname.  In addition, there are several other warm springs just to the west, but not improved and less warm than the Indian Spring (100 deg and less).

Driving Directions:

Take exit 365 from I-15 and go west for approximately 9 miles following the signs to the Golden Spike. 5.5 tenths of a mile after mile marker 6 is a dirt turn off on the left. Parking is within 10 feet of the hot spring.
