Lisa Falls - Kid Friendly Hiking Trail

Little Cottonwood Canyon is home to many hiking opportunities for all ages, and abilities. But one trail stands out from all the rest. The Lisa Falls trail is a short kid friendly hike, which can be enjoyed by all ages. The trail begins on the north side of the Little Cottonwood Canyon road between mile markers 6 and 7.

The trail ascends up the north side of the canyon and follows a rocky stream bed. On our visit this stream was bone dry, but we weren't worried because in the distance you could clearly hear the faint sound of water cascading over the rocks.

Up the shady trail we continued and just as expected the Lisa Falls came into full view. The falls are cascading down the smooth granite (quartz monzonite) like rock Little Cottonwood Canyon is famous for. At the bottom of the falls was a little pool of water the kids were jumping and playing in, and just having a wonderful time.

If there is one thing that excites me more about enjoying the great outdoors is seeing the families and the kids enjoying the beauty we all have so close to home.

If you're searching for a kid friendly hiking trail or just looking for a quick outing in the great outdoors, take a hike to Lisa Falls. It's amazing how re-energizing even a short visit in nature can be.

If you plan on visiting falls on the weekend plan on the crowds. However, because it is such a short hike be patient as people will come and go.
