Fountain Green Fish Hatchery

The Fountain Green Fish Hatchery is located on the North West end of Fountain Green Utah. After riding the Maple Canyon / Log Canyon ATV trail loop we were on our way back to Fountain Green it just so happens you drive right past the road that takes you to this hatchery. Being the curious individuals that we are, we decide to loop on up and visit. As you make your way up the road you will see the old hatchery which still holds a few fish, however if you continue up this road you will arrive at the new hatchery.

The new hatchery is owned and operated by the Utah Division Of Wildlife Resources, and was constructed in May of 2002. It's responsible for the production of over 120,000 pounds of fish. This hatchery produces Rainbow, Cutthroat Trout and Kokanee Salmon. Once these fish mature they are stocked in central Utah waters, Strawberry Reservoir and Bear Lake.

It was truly fascinating to see the thousands and thousands of fish swimming in each tank. The tanks are separated by size, the largest fish were located in the furthest row from the visitors center. This is a great location to bring the whole family as it provides a opportunity to view some of Utah's fish species close up and a sense of the work that must go into stocking Utah's lakes and streams.

Directions to the Hatchery
