Frontier Homestead State Park & Museum

There are plenty of highways along the Wasatch Front, but when you want to ride an off-highway vehicle while also staying close to home, those roads don’t do you much good. That’s why the state has created the Jordan River Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area.

Boasting four different tracks with terrain such as banked turns and tabletops, this park has a lot to offer. There are two motocross tracks for off-highway motorcycle riders, plus grand-prix and novice tracks that are suitable for motorbikes and all-terrain vehicles.

The rules at the park are simple. First, you need to register your machine. Second, fill out the liability waiver, which you can find here. Lastly, wear a helmet.

Visiting the park is a great way to practice safe riding skills and spend time with friends. Just make sure to bring plenty of snacks and water, as options are limited once you’re in the park.

As for pricing, you can get a day use pass for just $25. This pass lets you ride all relevant tracks as much as you want. If you want to save money, you can purchase bulk passes directly from the park. So if you plan on riding extensively in the future, this is definitely the preferred route. Just know that these gift cards are only valid for one year from the time of your purchase.

An additional bonus is that the park sometimes offers OHV education courses. For young riders, this is a great opportunity to learn the ropes and prepare for the road ahead.

You’ll find the Jordan River Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area just northeast of the airport in Salt Lake City. The address is 2824 Rose Park Lane. It’s really quite remarkable to have a facility like this so close to such a heavily populated area.
