The Clark’s Nutcracker:

The Clark’s Nutcracker is a pale gray bird with black wings. These birds pick the large seeds from pine cones belonging to the Limber Pine, and the Whitebark Pine. They eat a few, and then bury thousands of seeds along the slopes of the Bear River Range. When one or a cluster of these seeds is lost or forgotten, a new generation of pine trees has been planted. The birds play an important role in the ongoing cycle of this beautiful area.

Trail Popularity:

The Limber Pine Trail is a very popular hiking trail, because it is located just a short distance from the town of Garden City and the famous Bear Lake Utah, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors during the summer months. There are very few times throughout the day you will not find the parking lot full and vehicles parked along the canyon road. If you find the parking lot full, just wait a while and come back. Because this trail is short, hikers come and go fairly quickly. If you choose to park along the canyon road, don’t park in the brake check area, or you will be ticketed.
