Smoked Salmon on a Traeger Outdoor Grill

With the country and world experiencing some difficult times, we decided to spend time at home and do our part in practicing social distancing. Although, we prefer to get outdoors, there are many activities that can be enjoyed at home, for example outdoor cooking. Outdoor cooking can be fun, relaxing, and you have to eat anyway, right?

In this article we are going to share with you one of our favorite smoked salmon recipes. This recipe can actually be found on the Traeger website under the recipes tab. So, by no means are we saying this recipe was created by us. It is however, one of our favorite recipes that we have tried so far on the Traeger outdoor grill.

Ingredients:

One of the reasons why we enjoy cooking this recipe is because it is easy and requires very few ingredients. All you need is balsamic vinegar, honey, and fresh minced garlic. If you don’t have fresh garlic, dried garlic powder can be used as well.

Smoked Salmon Glaze

Preparation:

The first step in preparing this smoked salmon recipe is making the glaze. Now, depending on how many salmon fillets you are cooking you may want to double the recipe like we did. To make the glaze add one cup of balsamic vinegar, two tablespoons of garlic, and four tablespoons of honey in a small saucepan. (The amounts mentioned above were doubled)

Simmer this mixture over medium heat until the mixture is reduced in half. This will take about 10 to 15 minutes. To see if the glaze has been properly reduced check it with a spoon. The glaze should cling to the back of your spoon.

Salmon Filets:

Once your glaze has been reduced, take a basting brush and coat each fillet with the glaze. Don’t be shy with the mixture.

Smoked Salmon Glaze

Preparing your Grill:

Start your Traeger by setting the grill to smoke and allow 4 to 5 minutes for the fire to establish. Turn the temperature to 350 degrees and close the lid.

Cooking Process:

Once the grill is heated to 350 degrees, arrange your salmon fillets on the grill. Cook your salmon for 25 to 30 minutes or until the fish flakes with a fork. Once done, transfer to a plate and serve immediately. If you wish, heat up any remaining glaze and drizzle it over the top of the salmon before serving.
